Methodology & sources

Collection. Every month we download the official license lists published by 53+ Japanese authorities: 住宅宿泊事業 notification lists, 旅館業 permit lists and 特区民泊 certification lists. Source files are archived immutably; the database can always be rebuilt from them.

Normalization. License numbers are canonicalized (full-width characters, 第…号 wrapping, hyphen variants); operator names are normalized and classified as corporate (法人) or individual.

Change tracking. Each month's snapshot is compared with the previous month: new registrations, ceased licenses and operator changes become delta events. The archive began August 2026.

Privacy. Individual operators' names are never included in commercial products (APPI). Corporate operator information originates from official public registries.

Licensing. Source data is reused under the Government of Japan Standard Terms of Use (PDL 1.0), with attribution. MinpakuIQ is an independent provider, not affiliated with any government agency.
